                   GOLDEN RETRIEVERS:
A BREED SURVEY
BARBARA ALDERMAN
I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I run my boarding kennel and I deal in real estate and property management. I was a profes- sional handler for 28 years and I’ve been judging for 27 years.
PLUIS DAVERN
I live in North Monterey County California and while I don’t do anything outside of dogs I do many different activi- ties “within” dogs. Breeding and training my own and clients’ dogs for almost every performance venue, as well as teaching obedience classes and dealing with behavioral issues. I start- ed training and showing Golden Retrievers in 1968, followed by breeding. I became a professional handler in the 1970s and began my judging career in 2000.
LINDA HURLEBAUS
I’ve lived on the south side of Atlanta since 1999. Outside of dogs, I’m always busy with home. I got my first show dog in 1972, which was an Old English Sheepdog. As part of the Stebbins family I showed dogs profes- sionally until retiring from the ring in 1996. I worked in the Event Plans Department of the AKC until 1999 at which time moved from
Raleigh to Atlanta and applied for my judging license. In 2007 I became employed as a Field Rep for 8 years and my judging placed on hold. I just began again in 2015.
GLORIA KERR
I live in the desert outside of Tucson, and enjoy photography, a small garden and have built my own house out of straw bales. I got my first Golden in 1963, became interested in dog shows and showed him in both conformation and obedience. We showed more successfully in obedience at that time.
KATHY LORENTZEN
I live in Michigan. I love to trav- el; my favorite places are Africa and the Cayman Islands. Also spend a lot of time in Nashville as that we love country music—Vince Gill in particular. I’ve been showing dogs for fifty years and judging for sixteen years.
DR. DANA MASSEY
I live in the hill country outside of Waco Texas about 30 miles. I teach full-time at McLennan College in the busi- ness department. I enjoy travel- ing (especially with friends). I received my first dog from my father—I was two years old in 1950 and his name was “Quirt.” I’ve had a Weimaraner in my life for 66 years. My dogs at home were hunting dogs. I started showing in 1985 and judging in about 1998.
CONNIE
GERSTNER
MILLER
I am from Kalamazoo, Michigan. My life is pretty much centered on the dogs. Maybe I should learn to knit? I’ve been in dogs for over fifty years. Judg- ing for about eighteen years.
